Content Strategy

Discover topics and keywords, see coverage visually, and dig deeper with Research—so you know what to write next.

Overview

Content strategy in Casper starts from the sidebar under Keywords, which opens Topics & Keywords. Casper analyzes your business, site, and competitors to group related keywords into themes—helping you build topical authority instead of chasing one-off terms.

From there you can scan coverage in Visual view, enrich topics with Search Console data, and open Research for keyword lookups, topic explores, competitor gaps, and AI fan-out queries.

Topics & Keywords

1. Topics workflow

Topics group related keywords into clusters so you can plan content around themes, not isolated phrases. On the Topics tab you can:

  • Filter by All, Unused, Used, or Scheduled
  • Search across topics and keywords
  • Enrich topics (including with Google Search Console rankings when connected)
  • Add keywords manually when you already know the angle
  • Start single-article generation from a keyword when you want something written right away

Your Topics & Keywords list is what Auto Blog pulls from automatically—you don't need to star keywords or send them to the calendar. Keep the list healthy and Auto Blog has candidates ready. See Auto Blog.

2. Visual coverage map

Switch from Table to Visual to see your strategy as a map instead of rows. The coverage map shows:

  • Your brand as the hub, with topic islands and keyword cells around it
  • Color for coverage status—not covered, queued, or covered
  • Search volume and AI search volume signals where available
  • Zoom and fullscreen when you need more space to explore clusters

Use the legend to spot gaps quickly, then prioritize the next articles that complete a cluster.

3. Keywords list & metrics

Each keyword includes metrics to help you prioritize, such as:

  • Difficulty — how hard it is to rank
  • Search volume — typical monthly search interest
  • AI search volume — signal for AI-assisted discovery where available
  • Intent — informational, commercial, and related intents

From any keyword you can start a single article generation for a quick one-off. For ongoing publishing, leave unused keywords in Topics & Keywords—Auto Blog consumes from that list on the days you configure.

Fan-out queries

Browse related searches collected from AI Visibility runs. Multi-select strong queries and add them to a topic in your keyword bank.

Best Practices

Plan by cluster, not one keyword at a time

Use Topics and the Visual map to finish coverage on a theme before jumping to unrelated terms. That builds topical authority faster.

Enrich with Search Console when you can

After connecting Google Search Console, enrich topics with live ranking data so you don't plan new articles for ground you've already won. Pair this with Search Visibility.

Mix volume, difficulty, and AI opportunity

Balance easier long-tail wins with strategic head terms, and watch AI search volume where you care about AI recommendations.

Keep unused keywords ready for Auto Blog

Auto Blog draws from your Topics & Keywords list automatically. Prioritize filling gaps in strong clusters so unused keywords stay relevant—there's nothing to star or manually enqueue for Auto Blog.

Common Questions

How many keywords does Casper find?

Typically a few hundred, depending on your niche. They're grouped into topics so you can work by theme rather than scrolling an endless list.

Can I add my own keywords?

Yes. Add keywords to a topic manually; Casper fetches metrics when available. They join the same Topics & Keywords list that Auto Blog uses, and you can generate a single article from them anytime.

Do Research credits roll over?

Keyword search and topic explore credits reset with your billing cycle and don't roll over. Limits vary by plan—see Plans & Billing.
