Contentful

Contentful Integration

Connect Casper with your Contentful space to automatically publish SEO-optimized articles directly to your CMS.

Overview

The Contentful integration allows you to publish articles directly to your Contentful space. Casper uses the Contentful Management API to create entries, set metadata, and configure SEO fields.

Requirements: A Contentful space with a Content Management API token. You'll need to create a personal access token for authentication.

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Create a Personal Access Token

  1. Log in to your Contentful account
  2. Go to Settings → API keys
  3. Click on the Content management tokens tab
  4. Click Generate personal token
  5. Enter a name for the token (e.g., "Casper")
  6. Copy the generated token (you won't be able to see it again)

Step 2: Get Your Space ID

  1. In Contentful, go to Settings → General settings
  2. Find your Space ID and copy it
  3. Also note your Environment (usually "master" or "main")

Step 3: Connect in Casper

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations in your Casper dashboard
  2. Click Connect next to Contentful
  3. Enter your Space ID
  4. Enter your Environment (usually "master")
  5. Paste your Content Management API token
  6. Click Test Connection to verify
  7. Click Save to complete the connection

Step 4: Configure Content Model

Casper will automatically detect your blog post content type. Make sure your Contentful space has a content type for blog posts with fields for:

  • Title
  • Body/content (rich text or markdown)
  • Slug/URL
  • SEO metadata (optional but recommended)

How to Use

Publishing Articles

When publishing an article, select Contentful from your connected platforms. Choose your content type and configure field mappings. The article will be created as a draft entry in Contentful, ready for you to review and publish.

Content Type Mapping

Casper maps article content to your Contentful content type fields. You can customize which fields are used for title, body, slug, and SEO metadata during the connection setup.

Rich Text Formatting

Contentful's rich text format is automatically handled. Casper converts markdown to Contentful's structured rich text format, preserving formatting, links, and images.

Troubleshooting

Connection Failed

If you're having trouble connecting:

  • Verify your Space ID is correct
  • Check that your Environment name is correct (case-sensitive)
  • Ensure your Content Management API token is valid and hasn't expired
  • Make sure the token has the necessary permissions

Publishing Errors

If articles aren't publishing:

  • Verify your content type exists and has the required fields
  • Check that field mappings are correct
  • Ensure your API token has write permissions
  • Check Contentful's status page for any service issues

Common Questions

Can I connect multiple Contentful spaces?

Each organization represents one website and can only have one integration connected. If you want to connect multiple Contentful spaces, create separate organizations for each space. Each organization has its own settings, integrations, and content.

What content types are supported?

Casper works with any content type that has fields for title and body/content. The integration automatically detects blog post content types in your space.
